Hi all,

I wonder how many of us still read this blog but it doesn't hurt to post here either =D

I hope all of you had recovered from your husky voice, some of the poor OPMCs and OGLs are still sounding very sexy. Not sure if they feel the same.

ANYWAY,

4th August is the first day of school, aren't we all excited?! =D Just like to list down a few things so that you all won't feel lost in NIE.

1. Print out your timetable (oh it works. Trust me)

2. When reading the numbers, 7-1-27A, it's (block-level-classroom). So in this case, it's Blk 7, level 1, classroom 27A.

3. Don't be late for classes, some lecturers give marks based on first impression. Some.

4. Bring cashcard (with money), if you need to photocopy and print your notes.

5. If you need to buy books from the bookshop (NIE bookshop got the cheapest rate), give yourself at least 1 hour to do so. Cause you will be facing queuing competition from NTU students as well.

6. Anything or emergency, you can try calling your OGLs. Just please don't call them to ask where the toilet is.

Day 0, updates

Nothing new, just thought that addressing all your questions here, is better than doing so on the tagboard (which is so small and cramp)

Dear all. YES we are all nervous and anxious, but that shouldn't kill our enthusiam!! =D Just one last thing to note before we all meet for the very last time =)

1. Please come in your (OG colour) t-shirt (cotton, dry fit, woollen etc etc), and shorts (Yes FBT allowed). JEANS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
If you haven't receive any calls pertaining to your OG, please wear ANY dark coloured shirt.

2. Yes, please bring mug, because we will specially make (with love) Milo for all of you for breakfast.

3. Please report in front of LT 1 at 7.30 am SHARP.
For the sake of smooth traffic, please be advised to reach Boon Lay Bus Interchange by 6.30. You can take 179/199 and stop at the bridge. You can also take a cab but peak hour surcharges apply.

LT 1 is right in the middle of Blk 5 and 7, (i.e. in the middle of NIE.) You can see "LT 1" on the building itself.

4. For those who haven't paid yet, please remember to bring $20 and hard copy of the registration form tomorrow. =)

5. For those who are lost about their OG, there's a booth set up for you. Please go straight to that booth.

6. For those who already know their family, please go straight to the booth with your family name on it. If it helps, the colour is on the booth as well.

7. Please wear sandals for the first day, and bring ONE PAIR of track shoes.

We know the suspense is killing you, so it is the same to us. But, tomorrow is finally coming, please rest well, drink honey and pi pa gao (cheer cheer), and remember to bring big big smile tomorrow !

Reminder!!

Hey guys!! Just a reminder for all of you who didn't pay the camp fees, remember to bring it during the 1st day of the camp!! If you don't, you'll have to starve during the three days and wun get the all exclusive orientation camp shirt!! Just kidding!! :b But still, put a reminder in your h.p or find someone who has a superb memory to remind you about bringing the camp fees!!

For those who have not send the reply slips, remember to bring the on the actual day itself!

Another important thing, judging from the weather that we are getting from these few days, remember to bring a poncho/umbrella, or both if you want, if you don't want to melt when we for our "excursion"!! Also, to prevent yourselves from drying up under the hot sun, bring a 1.5l bottle with you for the camp!!

Dear all!

Please do not forget to make your way down to NIE tomorrow for registration for your BA/BSc course.

1.30pm onwards.

Make your way down to the GYM, Blk 5 level B1. And right outside the gym, you can spot the OPMC booth. Handsome and beauty will be stationed there. Please try to have exact amount ready, cause it'll be very VERY VERY busy (and squeezy) tomorrow.

Also, there will be a club fair (where clubbing in NIE starts) in the Motor Developement room (don't worry if this word is too weird). Feel free to ask any questions at the booths and sign up with any clubs you think is interesting.

And of course, you should be able to spot the two most happening clubs, BA's and BSc's booths side by side.

As you are all anxious and nervous about registration and/or seeing us, we are equally anxious and nervous too. Fear not, just remember to come down tomorrow with a big smile, proper ABCs, and pleases and thank yous. =)

1. Why is there a Freshman Orientation Camp?

NIE did not have the culture of hosting Orientation Camps, however a few years back, seniors decided that NIE undergraduates shouldn't be of any difference compared to other undergraduates, and volunteered to do up a FOC for Freshman, and this tradition has been well passed down over the years. Volunteers from BA and BSc club will come together every year to host this event of the year.

2. Is the camp compulsory?

Yes. If you wish to take leave from the camp, please kindly write in an official letter to Assoc Prof Low Ee Ling (Sub Dean of programmes), with relevant official documents (i.e. MC, letter for leave or absence)

3. Can I attend the camp during the day and go home at night?

We have planned exciting (I promise) activities all the way til just before your bed time, and if you leave the camp halfway, you will miss all the fun actions. All we can say is, "the night is still young". =)

4. Must I pack eveything that is listed on the list?

Well, it is the legendary hand down pack list from past past years. It is highly recommended. =)

5. Can I know what is the itenary of the camp?

Where is the surprise element if we spell out everything here? It'll be a camp no one forgets. =)

6. What happens if I have any questions regarding the orientation programme itself?

The OPMC is only in charge of the FOC camp (where all the fun is). With questions pertaining to the serious stuffs (i.e. subject briefing), please refer to the following link . Also, any important updates will be posted on the Teacher's Portal. So it's time to copy this link into your browser's favourite.

7. When will I get to know my timetable? How is my timetable like?

Don't worry, don't stress. Let's have fun first before we get to the course registration and time tabling. Just a preview, course registration in NIE is more or less pre selected (we follow course structure given), and timetable is arranged by FPO (Foundation Programmes Office). Unlike your fellow friends in NTU or NUS who will get all stressed up planning their timetables.

8. Does NIE has a prayer room for Malays? Does NIE has this? Has that?

Yes. NIE has a prayer room for Malays. Come on down on the 18th July, where you will collect a bag of stuffs which consists of your matriculation card, a small little booklet and other things (poor memory ar). Inside the book, you will get to know what are the many wonderful facilities NIE has.

9. What time should I report for camp on Monday 28th July?

7.30am is the reporting time. However, as there is a gigantic group of 400 freshmen, I suggest that you all reach Boon Lay Interchange by 6.30am. You can take either 199 or 179.

OPMC beauties and handsomes are just like you, undergradute students in NIE, and we might only be senior by you a year or so. So there's no need for sir/mdms but of course, proper ABCs and mannerism is appreciated, magic words "please and thank you." =)

As of now, this is the FAQ with questions to the camp. Focus on the fun now and fret over the serious stuffs later. So guys and girls, don't stress, save your questions regarding schooling and enjoy your holidays before your life in NIE starts. =)

T-shirt Sizes

Hi all, below is the Tshirt measurements as given by the supplier. Tshirt sizes are men's size (also your school PE shirt size etc). I think the most important thing is if the chest size can fit you. If you really really MUST change your size, pls inform us via email. But try not to :)

Late package, how?

Hiyo all lovelies

It has been highlighted to us that many of you had received your package late (you are not alone). Don't worry, just continue to send us the package through airmail/fedex/slowmail to the stipulated address on the form.

ASAP ok? Cause we will like to order the T shirts for you all and make sure that you have the T shirt size you want. We don't want you all to be wearing tight fits and overalls. =D

Try not to wait until the registration date which is 18th July to submit your orientation form, unless you only receive your package on 17th July. =)

For those who are new to this website, the very first post here is the (recommended) packing list. Why do I say recommended? Because it has been passed down ever since I don't know when, and proven to be needy and useful. Happy packing guys. =D

It is ok for you to send in the reply form later than 18 June, as long as you send it!! :) So, looking forward to see all of you!! :)
